So I Take My Kid To See A Chiropractor…

Friday, October 22nd, 2010 | Places | No Comments

So my son has been dealing with colic for weeks and weeks. My friend at work suggested that I go to see his chiropractor. I was thinking, “Really? Seriously?” I couldn’t imagine having someone jump up and down on my nine month old’s spine.

I mean, I’ve been seeing a chiropractor for years. I’m not interested in “wellness” or making sure that I have “good nerve flow.” I just know that I feel better. I used to have back pain a long time ago, but a good chiropractor helped me with that already.

After getting adjusted for a few weeks, I had no more pain. Worked for me, but I remember initially feeling like the guy was getting a running start at my spine. Then I heard enough pops and cracks to think that someone was making popcorn nearby.

So why would I want someone doing that to my child? Well, it worked. Turns out they don’t do all the twisting and popping on kids that small. It was more like the chiropractor used his pinkie finger to apply some pressure at the upper part of my sons neck.

I didn’t hear anything and my son slept through the whole thing. Better yet, no more colic. My wife is excited and we’re all getting so much more rest. Of course now I have to buy my friend lunch since he suggested it and I bet him it wouldn’t work.

Turns out he was right, but it will likely be the only time this year that he gets something right. He “suggests” lots of things for me to do, and hardly anything goes the way he thinks it will. It just turns out that this time he was right.

Silly Myths About Accountants

Thursday, October 21st, 2010 | Places | No Comments

There is a series of misguided beliefs connected with accountants and their profession. A vocation that is often misunderstood and sometimes maligned is this one. The belief they are mathematical geniuses is one of the basic falsehoods espoused about accountants. It is futile to expect an accountant to be as strong with figures as the Rain Man given that accountants work with a calculator with regards to totting up the data. Only part of the equation, secondly, is numbers. Accounting is really about assets, liabilities and so forth so merely having a head for figures is not enough. Finally, being a mathematician and knowing about algebra and trigonometry really doesnt mean they can balance you business books and give you business advice

There seems to be a school of thought which unfortunately indicates accountants are generally recluses who do not like dealing with people and don’t understand how to have a good time. In fact, accountants actually need to have excellent people skills to thrive. Society has this belief about accountants because of the Dickensian impression of a mean little man in a suit and glasses shut away in a dark corner of an office. Think about it, accountants have to speak to clients all the time, whether its on the phone or via email, communications is essential in this profession and accoutants know this. How else do you think they communicate their findings? The average accountant probably has better social skills than an average person because of this constant interaction.

It is also believed men are the dominating force in accounting when this isn’t actually the situation. Accounting firms, at present, have an almost equal amount of men and women in their employ with most third level educational institutions reporting a higher percentage of females in accounting classes. Therefore over the comoign years, the number of female accountants should surpass their male counterparts. While executive positions are still dominated by men, firms are realising more women are choosing their career over starting a family. Those who elect to do both are able to carry it off.

Given that they really do not generate enough of a profit to worry about keeping their books in order, small businesses consider they can operate without an accountant. This is an extremely short-sighted view and one which could end up costing an organization money. A organization still needs to know its budget, financial forecasts, business trends and potential tax breaks, regardless of it’s size and turnover.

It’s not just documents that can be stacked up when you are trying to run a real business, if you want it to floursih then organisation is key starting with all your tax documents. Imagine entering a tax firm with a disorganised mess of paper and asking them to do your tax returns. You could save yourself some cash if you sort the reciepts out yourself, as, they will charge you extra to that because it is tedious and takes time Your accounts in perfect working order and ensuring every company loss is recorded so you don’t have to pay tax is the job of the accountant. That will not be done by a tax firm.

As much as it may seem so accountants are not just mathematical geniuses with suspect social skills. Geniuses of mathematics with questionable social skills are not accountants. By knowing how to save companies money by ensuring their accounts are in perfect shape and forecasting, their profession is one that takes years to learn and master.

Xbox 360 Problems - The Most Common Cause

Wednesday, October 20th, 2010 | Places | No Comments

Microsoft’s Xbox 360 is a great piece of gear, there is no doubt about that. The amount of computing power housed in that little box is more than what your average personal computer had not so long ago and of course this can be seen in the quality of the graphics and the complexity of the game play. All of this computing power does have a by-product though and unfortunately this can have an adverse affect on machines.

The by-product that I am talking about is heat, and it is the enemy of these gaming consoles. Whether it be put down to a design fault or the placement of the machine when in use, they have trouble in effectively dissipating the built up heat which can have a detrimental affect on the hardware. Often the dreaded ‘red ring of death’ is caused by heat build up, sometimes even after a short gaming session.

The ‘dreaded red ring of death’ is when the lights on the front of the console, which are normally green, turn to red. The number of red lights showing can give you an indication as to the nature of the problem and possible causes. The best situation to have is all four segments of the light showing red as this indicates a disconnected AV cable. Turning the power off and reconnecting the AV cable is all that is needed to solve that one.

Having three or one red light showing is what you don’t want as this indicates a hardware failure, which is quite often attributed to a build up of heat that has affected the internal components such as the motherboard. It is quite possible that switching the unit off and letting it cool down for a reasonable period of time may return it back to normal, however this is not always the case and often further inspection and repairs are needed.

If your machine is out of warranty, and given that the original warranty only covered the first ninety days, there is a good chance that you will be able to repair it yourself with the right information. There is no need to send the console off for repair and wait weeks for it to return and pay through the nose for something that should not have happened in the first place. The frustration of having the machine play up in the first place is only compounded when you are forced to wait weeks for your console to be returned and as documented throughout the net there is no guarantee that it will be one hundred percent when it comes back anyway!

Your Simple Blueprint For Affiliate Marketing Success

Wednesday, October 20th, 2010 | Places | No Comments

Working online for many years and being involved in affiliate marketing, which is an amazing business model, I have seen many people fail and the great majority of them never found out why they failed. Now, some may say that mindset is important and I agree, but the truth of the matter is really, really simple. To make money with affiliate marketing, you need to keep things simple.

By sticking to a few basic steps, and repeating them over and over again, I have created a substantial passive income online. The point here is that I didn’t go running after every new affiliate marketing course or try out every single new on-the-edge tactic. I kept it simple.

Keyword research

The only thing I use for keyword research is Google’s keyword tool. It’s free and it’s simple. I get most of my keyword ideas from Amazon and Yahoo’s business directory. I plugged the keywords in Google’s tool and almost instantly, I have the foundation for a new niche website.

Building a website

I use Fantastico, which is a free program that can be found with most hosting services, inside the CPanel. It has a one-click install feature that basically gives you a website within 10 seconds.

Creating content

Most often, I go to the Warrior forum and get 3-4 quality articles for $25. That takes care of my content. If I decide not to use a ghostwriter, I go over to Yahoo Answers to see what kind of questions are people asking in my niche. It takes me half an hour to write a solid quality article.

Promoting the site

I bookmark the site to a dozen social bookmarking sites, write 2-3 articles and submit them to the biggest article directories and that’s about it.

I hope this shows you how simple making money with affiliate marketing can be. There’s no need to complicate things, you can build one site per day if you can keep things simple. After that, it’s rinse and repeat, rinse and repeat.

Dave Carravann has several hundred small niche websites that make him a nice passive income. You can check some of them, like affiliate marketing program or swiffer wet jet. If you need affiliate marketing resources, just visit his main website.

The History of Weddings

Tuesday, October 19th, 2010 | Places | No Comments

A form of marriage has been found to exist in all human societies, past and present. Its significance can be seen in the elaborate and complex laws and rituals surrounding it. Although these laws and rituals are as different and plentiful as human social and cultural organizations, some universals do apply.

The crucial legal function of marriage is to ensure the rights of the partners with respect to each other and to establish the rights and define the relationships of children within a community. Marriage has empirically conferred a legitimate status on the offspring, which empowered him or her to the various privileges set down by the culture of that community, including the right of inheritance. In most societies marriage also founded the permissible social relations allowed to the offspring, including the adequate selection of future spouses.

Endogamy, the custom of marrying someone from within one’s own tribe or group, is the oldest social regulation of marriage. When the methods of communication with outside groups are restrictive, endogamous marriage is a natural consequence. Cultural influences to partner within one’s social, economic, and ethnic group are still very strongly enforced in some societies.

Exogamy, the processof marrying outside the group, is found in societies in which kinship partnerships are the most complex, thus excluding from marriage large groups who may trace their lineage to a common ancestor.

In societies in which the large, or extended, family remains the basic unit, marriages are usually arranged by the family. The assumption is that love between the partners comes after marriage, and much thought is given to the socioeconomic advantages accruing to the larger family from the match. By contrast, in societies in which the small, or nuclear, family predominates, young adults usually choose their own mates. It is assumed that love precedes (and determines) marriage, and less thought is normally given to the socioeconomic aspects of the match.

In societies with arranged marriages, the overwhelming custom is that someone acts as an intermediary, or matchmaker. This person’s capitalresponsibility is to arrange a marriage that will be agreeable to the two families represented. Some form of dowry or bridewealth is usually exchanged in societies that favour arranged marriages.

In societies in which individuals choose their own mates, dating is the most typical way for people to meet and become acquainted with prospective partners. Successful dating may result in courtship, which then usually leads to marriage.

Marriage rituals
The rituals and ceremonies surrounding marriage in most cultures are associated primarily with productivity and validate the importance of marriage for the continuation of a clan, people, or society. They also assert a familial or communal sanction of the mutual choice and sympathy of the difficulties and sacrifices involved in making what is considered, in most cases, to be a lifelong commitment to and responsibility for the welfare of spouse and children.

Marriage ceremonies include symbolic rites, often sanctified by a religious order, which are considered to confer good fortune on the couple. Because economic considerations play a crucial role in the fruition of child rearing, the presentation of gifts, both real and symbolic, to the married couple are a meaningful part of the marriage ritual. When the presentation of prevents is extensive, either from the bride’s family to the bridegroom’s or vice versa, this usually indicates that the freedom to choose one’s marital partner has been limited and policed by the families of the betrothed.

Fertility rites intended to ensure a fruitful marriage exist in some form in all ceremonies. Some of the oldest rituals still to exist in contemporary ceremonies include the conspicuous display of fruits or of cereal grains that may be sprinkled over the couple or on their nuptial bed, the companionship of a small child with the bride, and the breaking of an object or food to cultivate a successful consummation of the marriage and an easy childbirth.

The most universal ritual is one that symbolizes a sacred union. This may be expressed by the joining of hands, an exchange of rings or chains, or the tying of garments. However, all the elements in marriage rituals vary greatly among different societies, and components such as time, place, and the social importance of the event are fixed by tradition and habit.

These rituals are, to a certain extent, formed by the religious beliefs and practices found in societies throughout the world. In the Hindu tradition, for example, weddings are highly elaborate affairs, involving several prescribed rituals. Marriages are usually arranged by the parents of the couple, and the time of the ceremony is determined by careful astrological calculations. Among the majority of Buddhists marriage remains chiefly a secular affair, even though the Buddha offered guidelines for the responsibilities of lay householders.

In Judaism marriage is thought to have been established by God and is described as making the individual complete. Marriage involves a double ceremony, which includes the formal betrothal and wedding rites (prior to the 12th century the two were separated by as much as one year). The modern ceremony opens with the groom signing the marriage contract before a group of witnesses. He is then led to the bride’s room, where he lays a veil on her. This is followed by the ceremony under the huppa (a canopy that symbolizes the bridal bower), which includes the reading of the marriage contract, the seven marriage benedictions, the groom’s placing a ring on the bride’s finger (in Conservative and Reform traditions the double ring ceremony has been introduced), and, in most communities, the crushing of a glass under foot. After the ceremony the couple is led into a private room for seclusion, which symbolizes the consummation of the marriage.

From its beginnings, Christianity has emphasized the spiritual nature and indissolubility of marriage. Jesus Christ spoke of marriage as being instituted by God, and the majority Christians consider it a permanent union based upon mutual consent. Some Christian churches count marriage as one of the sacraments, and other Christians confirm the sanctity of marriage but do not consider it as a sacrament. Since the Middle Ages, Christian weddings have taken place before a priest or minister, and the ceremony involves the exchange of vows, readings from Scripture, a blessing, and, sometimes, the eucharistic rite.

Dry Sockets: Prevention May Really Be The Best Cure

Sunday, October 17th, 2010 | Places | No Comments

Dry socket is a dental issue that is found post surgery in approximately 2 % to 5 % cases of tooth removal. What happens is that after the extraction, the blood clot naturally formed to cover the visible nerve and bone endings doesn’t form. This makes the bones and nerves vulnerable to fluids, food and air causing severe pain, spreading to the person’s face on the side of the extraction. The issue acts on mostly the molar and the wisdom teeth.

Treatment

Prevention is the best treatment

There is really no possible treatment for dry socket symptoms as it’s a condition that appears and then vanishes by itself. The objective of the medical care is stopping and reduction of the pain.

Among men, those that consume tobacco in any form are more vulnerable to this condition. Smoking lessens the oxygen content in the blood stream thus impairing the body’s natural ability to heal. Smokers are therefore encouraged to avoid smoking for a few days prior to and after the procedure. What’s more the suction activity may disturb the blood clot from the site of extraction.

In women, the use of birth prevention tablets adds to the risk of this condition. High levels of estrogen that are linked with birth prevention pills dilute the person’s blood and stops blood clotting. Women are therefore advised to avoid taking the pregnancy prevention tablets for one week before and after the extraction. Or else they need to have their tooth removed during the final week of their menstrual cycle.

Coping with The Pain

Analgesics are the chief medicines for diminishing the levels of pain. The usual method is to have a patient on anesthetics and anti inflammatory medication for ten to fifteen days after the procedure. To stop the infection from spreading or intensifying, dentists advise antiseptics whereas in more critical cases antibiotics are prescribed.

Medicated dressings are the chief treatment for this condition. The affected site is gently sprayed by saline and later a medicated dressing is placed in the socket. This dressing soothes the region, lessens the pain and encourages the formation of newer tissues.

Low price buck hunting knives

Sunday, October 17th, 2010 | Places | No Comments

Buck knives are among probably the most popular knife brands for both hunting and kitchen cutlery. Buck knives are recognized for their distinctive form. The edge of every knife is meticulously tested and created, and is created of high-quality supplies that enable it to hold a ultra sharp edge. The buck knives for sale brand was founded by Hoyt H. Buck. A Kansas blacksmith, Buck created a technique of heat-treating metal so that it would maintain an edge for much longer than ordinary equipment. This tempered steel was created to keep the farmers’ equipment that Hoyt labored on from breaking so easily, but it was quickly adaptable for use on knife blades. By 1941, Hoyt had moved to Idaho, where he began producing knives making use of worn-out file blades because the uncooked material. With the entry of the united states into Earth Conflict II, the authorities began asking for donations of fixed blade knives for that troops. When Buck learned of this, he setup store in the garage of a cathedral, and commenced production blades for that troops.

Following the struggle, Hoyt Buck and his son Al set up store in San Diego, beginning as H.H. Buck & Son in 1947. Until his death in 1949, Hoyt Buck personally made 25 knives per 7 days. Handmade and more expensive than mass-produced buck knife collector, the Buck brand seriously took off in the 1950s, when it was first publicized through sellers.

Probably the most popular knife, the Buck Folding Hunter Model 110, was first developed in 1963. With a four-inch blade, high-tension lock, and low-pressure release, the Buck Folding Hunter is definitely one of probably the most common knives ever created. Often imitated by other suppliers, this Buck knife was the first profitable folding lock-blade knife ever. In fact, “Buck knife” is sometimes used to mean any folding lock-blade knife, though of course Buck Knife is a unique company, generating many more styles than just this well-liked model.

1984 saw the introduction of the Buckmaster, a survival knife featuring a 7.5 inch serrated blade and hollow storage handle. This knife was made common through the Rambo movies. In 1992, the Nighthawk fixed-blade knife was introduced, with a 6.5 inch blade and black, ergonomic handle.

With a full array of folding knives, tactical and hunting knives, and cutlery, Buck knives are available to meet any need. Today, many Buck knives are made with licensed graphics from a wide variety of companies and organizations, creating them not only practical but also collectible. All Buck knives come with a lifetime warranty and are built to withstand heavy use, even those designed as collectibles.

Buck recommends that all of their knives are sharpened with a sharpening stone. In fact, sharpening with a power grinding wheel can remove the temper from Buck blades, producing the edge brittle and more likely to chip. Utilizing such a grinder voids the Buck Knife lifetime warranty. For this reason, always use a sharpening stone on your Buck knives. Wet your diamond or natural sharpening stone before sharpening a Buck knife.
