Batteries
Tuesday, July 21st, 2009 | Places | No Comments
In both science and in technology, a battery is used as a type of device that is used to store energy, making it available for use in an electrical form. They consist of electrochemical devices, including one or even more galvanic cells.
Baghdad Batteries are thought to be the first known in history, dating back from sometime between the years of 250 BC and 640 BC. The modern battery began with the Voltaic pile, which was developed by Alessandro Volta, an Italian physicist, in 1800. As of a 2005 estimate, the battery industry generates, no pun intended, around 48 billion dollars in annual sales.
Batteries for various electronic devices like a laptop computer,a cellphone,or a iPod battery all can be found now on the internet, at many websites
Batteries can be divided into two main categories, rechargeable batteries and non-rechargeable, or disposable, batteries.
Disposable batteries are also known as primary cells. They are intended for a one time use only, to be used until the chemical changes used to induce its electrical current supply have been finished. Their common usages include smaller, more portable devices that have either a low current drain or are used away from any alternative power source.
Rechargeable batteries, also known as secondary cells, have a longer usage life since they can be recharged after their power has been drained. You can do so by applying an externally supplied electrical current. This causes a reversal in the chemical changes that occur during the batterys use. These devices used to do this are commonly known as re-chargers or chargers.
The wet cell, or lead-acid, battery is the oldest form of the rechargeable battery that is still in today’s use. This battery contains a liquid found in an unsealed container that requires the battery to be kept in an upright position. The area in which it is used must be well-ventilated so as not to cause the ventilated, hydrogen gas to display its explosive qualities.
The lead-acid battery is quite heavy, although its cost to manufacture is low and the high surge content levels allow it to be a commonly used battery in places where its weight and handling ease are not of any concern.
The most common form of a lead-acid battery is the car battery.
A gel battery is known to be an expensive lead-acid battery type, containing a semi-solid electrolyte that is used to prevent spillage.
The portable types are considered to be dry cells. They are sealed units that are useful in appliances such as cell phones and laptop computers. These types of cells also include, nickel-cadmium or NiCd, nickel metal hydride or NiMH, and lithium-ion or Li-Ion, listed in the order of their increasing power density and also their cost.
Both disposable batteries and rechargeable batteries come in various standard sizes. This is so they can easily be used in a wider amount of appliances. The most commonly known types of batteries are the A-series, including A, AA, AAA, and AAAA. Also known are B, C, D, F, G, J, and N. Other variants include 3R12, 4R25, PP3, PP9, and the 996 and PC926 that are used in lanterns. There are many, many more less common battery types, and their usages vary greatly.

Is SEO dead?
Saturday, July 18th, 2009 | Places | No Comments
I was reading a thread at a big webmaster forum yesterday which made the claim that “SEO is dead.” Now, it’s hard to say whether or not the original poster was being serious or sarcastic, but he referenced some other news he’d been reading on a few authority sites that made the “dead” claim.
The notion was that, because of the prevalence of Web 2.0 community sites, the idea of needing to optimize for any of the engines was going away — and fast. The idea was also put forth by another poster that, because of the huge number of content management systems that are already setup to be “search engine friendly”, the need to have any additional knowledge to rank well was quickly diminishing.
My answer to all this? Poppycock.
First, while it is true that there are many CMS programs that are search engine friendly out of the box, on-page factors matter so little to ranking (at least in Google) that even if the on-page playing field was leveled, it would make little difference in the current search engine results.
Second, SEO is about far more than just what’s on the page. The way you analyze what keywords are worth optimizing for, the way you write the content around those keywords, and the links you get to the pages that you want to rank for those keywords all have a large role to play in how much traffic you get from the search engines — and that analysis takes specialized knowledge. Anyone can learn to do it, but it does have to be learned.
Third, and most importantly, Web 2.0 is nice, and sites that revolve around that kind of community are huge traffic mongers (e.g. YouTube), but there will always be a need for full-text indexing of the web.
So is SEO dead? Nope. It’s alive and well, and will be for as long as people need to search for information on the web.

The summer can get exceedingly wet, especially in countries of the world closer to the equator. For some individuals, this can cause sickness and extreme discomfort. Another negative thing about moist conditions is that many bugs favor moist conditions. Fleas, cockroaches, and moths all prosper in moist surroundings. If humidness is a trouble, one should consider obtaining a buy basement dehumidifiers and utilising it during the summer. Amazon is full of solid dehumidifiers with plenty of ratings so one should have no trouble finding the right one.
If stretch marks are still a trouble, there are plenty of answers that can now cater to your concerns. There are a few ointments that can be applied directly to the skin areas taken by stretch marks that are shown to lessen their profile. One such site is called striation stretch marks and can be bought on the web site. It appears to be really popular and successful based on the testimonies listed.

Thursday, July 16th, 2009 | Places | No Comments
Health insurance is an item everyone needs, especially if they have a family. Sadly, a lot people don’t have adequate medical coverage in cases of serious illness. Even with health insurance, it can cost hundreds of dollars to adequately care for you and your family. If this is the case, you might consider HSAs. But, just what is a Health Savings Account?
HSAs are a way to help pay for current medical expenses, as well as save for any future medical emergencies, and are tax free. They are set up to be used along with your current family health insurance plans, as long as you have a “high deductible” policy. An individual must have a minimum deductible of $1100, or $2200 for families. And unlike a PPO, it is a true family deductible. No two-member maximum which can become quite expensive if two-members come close but don’t hit the deductible.
For 2009, you can contribute a maximum of $3,000 to a health savings account on an individual policy, or $5,950 for a family policy. The best part about HSAs is that you get to make the decision how to expense the money and can even invest it in order to help it grow. Also, if you carry a normal low deductible policy, but drop that and replace it with a high deductible policy, your maximum contribution will be pro rated to however many months are left in that year.
It doesn’t matter of you are the head of the house or living alone, medical insurance is a must. Now, there is help in making sure that you can cover any medical expenses that may come up. You’ll also know how to answer the question, “What Is A Health Savings Account”?
