Why cell number databases charge a fee
Monday, September 28th, 2009 | Places | No Comments
Is it really possible to run a free cell number lookup on the Web? Many people have been disappointed and frustrated previously with sites that appear to offer free products online, but in actuality are not. Is this the case for the cell phone lookup?
First we will discuss what we mean by a phone number search. When you have a home phone number but no idea who the number belongs to. You may use a reverse lookup service like Google to see the details. Of course in situations where you lost contact with someone but still have a record of their phone number, or just to check who owns the number. There are many places where you can make these business and residential phone inquiries online queries for free, including fax phone numbers.
However, a problem arises when you need to do a reverse lookup on a cell phone as the free listings will not list such phone numbers. So, if you’re looking for an Oregon cell number you will have a problem. These listings do not contain cell phone numbers as this information is only in the hands of carriers and telecommunications companies. Do these documents exist & are they free?
The good news is that there are websites that do offer a large number of cell numbers, but they aren’t free. These websites of course have to pay a fee to access some of this information, and go to the great difficulty and expense of retrieving all data in a single place and thus, you must pay a small fee for access to their database. However, the rate is typically a single fee and you can do as many searches as you want. These records generally include cell owner details, address history, carrier information, and the phone and connection status. It should also be noted that the databases offered by individual companies differ to some extent, but most include cell phone numbers, residential, business, fax, toll-free and pagers. With these websites your queries are guaranteed legal and confidential.
We’ve seen websites claiming to provide free cell research, but that has always led to websites charging a price in the end. Some do allow people to search for free and then see the results. The sad truth is that the only place where you will find detailed reverse cell records is within the legitimate paid directories. In conclusion, cell phone searches are not free. However, if you really need access to these records, we believe that it’s worth the fee.
A Professional Security Company Can Help To Protect Your Business
Monday, September 28th, 2009 | Places | No Comments
Many businesses need the services of a professional security company to help to protect their property and employees from security risks. They employ security officers to protect property by maintaining a high visibility presence to help deter illegal actions. They can then take action and report any incidents to their client and to the emergency services if necessary.
Safety and the costly effects of theft, vandalism and damage to property, machinery or other assets are some of the security threats your business can face. A mobile patrol service from a security company can help to protect your business by providing a random patrol of your premises by trained security patrol officers who can help you with things such as premises checks, alarm response and the opening and closing of your business premises. Mobile patrols are a very cost effective solution for protecting your business when it is unoccupied.
Key holding is another useful service that can be provided to help protect your business premises from intruders or vandalism. The key holding company will hold the keys to your property and then can rapidly respond to any alarm alerts within a few minutes. An SIA licence is required before a company can undertake the activities of a key holder and you should ensure that the company providing your key holding service is authorized as such.
For premises or staff that require an increased level of protection, then a manned guarding service may be appropriate. Manned guarding includes guarding property against unauthorised entry or against vandalism. It can also include protecting people against assault. Manned guarding includes providing a physical presence, or carrying out any form of patrol to prevent crime and to report any incidents as they happen.
There are many reputable security companies that can carry out the above services to help protect your business. Locate a company in your local area by doing a search on the major search engines and then ask them for price quotes and references from previous clients.
Own Pretty and Classy Charm Bracelets
Monday, September 28th, 2009 | Places | No Comments
Charm bracelets are adorned with several charms that are often used to put across individual styles, life stories, fondness, hobbies and ambitions. This accessory is simply magical, beautiful and rarely goes out of style.
Today, charm bracelets are not what they were in the past. Trend, overall look, and tradition are the major causes why most people wear charm bracelets. No more are the skulls, bones, teeth, and plumage that were used in the ancient times. Charm bracelets were used then to bring good luck, hold off evil spirits or guard the wearer from injury. Discover more information at this charm bracelets page.
To start gathering charms for your own charm bracelet, you must first decide if you will use gold or silver charms. Good looking charms are offered in both precious metals so whatever your preference is, it will surely turn out divine. After that, you can now purchase your own starter charm bracelet. Will it be links, single, double or triple? Keep in mind that the thickness of the bracelet should be pondered on as well as the thickness of the charms you will be using to decorate it with. If you think you will be flooding your charm bracelet with big and heavy charms, choose an equally thick bracelet. If dainty charms are your preference, shun thick chains.
There are actually no regulations on what kinds of gold charms to add to your mickey mouse charm bracelet. But it is prudent to set up a theme on each bracelet. For example if you are a performer, you can attach charms in forms of musical notes, piano, guitar, musical sheet and the likes. If you are an eager explorer, you can use passport, Eiffel tower, suitcase, trolley charms. If you want to revive childhood memories, a tiara, ballet tutu, stuffed animal or baby bottle charm would be ideal. If you are beginning a new phase in your life, document them in your charm bracelet. An upcoming wedding? Add an engagement ring charm. Having a baby? Decorate your charm bracelet with a stork charm.
Antique charm bracelets are also accessible for those who are into collecting unique and rare charm pieces. There are several online stores that advertise them but make sure that the seller is decent for antique charm bracelets can become costly.
Most people obtain numerous charm bracelets because they can’t get enough of the pretty little charms and deluxe bracelets. The potential of decking your charm bracelets are never ending. Your imagination is the only thing that confines you. Have a good time, be innovative and enjoy.
Is there a safe Energy Drink?
Monday, September 28th, 2009 | Places | No Comments
The Energy drink Market is fraught with peril! You now have to attempt to navigate a huge assortment of potentially Dangerous products to try and fin even one that works that won’t put you in the hospital. Below you will see just a few of the excerpts from the FREE report Dying For Energy! the Life Threatening Dangers of the Energy Drink Market. But thank goodness there is an alternative, which you will learn about in the Free Report.
Please read the following short excerpts to get a small taste of the secrets the Energy Drink Market doesn’t want you to EVER know about. Energy drinks have become increasingly popular, especially with teens and young adults, and more than 500 new energy drinks have launched worldwide last year. But experts are questioning whether people are harming their health by drinking them.
Most energy drinks are just marketing ploys, according to Mark Kantor, professor of family and consumer sciences and nutrition at the University of Maryland, who specializes in consumer education. “I’m not aware of any scientific data that they do what they say they’re going to do,” He said “They don’t give you more energy.” For the most part, they are nothing much more than a can full of caffeine and a lot of sugar.Taken from: enzyme-health blogspot/2009/02/vitamin-supplement-paradox
The concept of the “energy drink” is a relatively new phenomenon. Brands such as Red Bull, Venom, Rockstar and Monster began appearing in the last few decades and have become extremely popular among young people. But new research by John’s Hopkins presents a stark warning about these so-called “high energy” soft drinks: many of them contain levels of caffeine high enough to endanger your physical health.
While many researchers believe that a small amount of caffeine (such as found in the ubiquitous morning cup of coffee) can actually be good for you, Roland Griffiths, a researcher from Johns Hopkins, points out that most energy drinks contain upwards of 10 mg of caffeine per each ounce. This amounts to 14 times more caffeine than in the average soft drink. It is the equivalent of drinking 7 cups of regular caffeinated coffee within a five-minute period.Taken from: romow.com/health-blog/common-but-dangerous-eye-diseases/
Some trendy new energy drinks are making the rounds these days. But they’re also making some people sick. Attorney Mike Bryant has a revealing report on the reason why in today’s Consumer Pay-off.
Most people don’t seem to know what’s in it, but Red Bull and other energy drinks are powerful stimulants that can have some pretty sobering side effects. And their catchy ads are making Red Bull a hit with teens too!Taken from:telepixtvcgi.warnerbros/dailynews/consumer/12_00/12_07

Treatment of yeast infections
Sunday, September 27th, 2009 | Uncategorized | No Comments
Yeast infection treatment includes anti-fungal cream, tablets, and some suppositories. They can be used to relieve itching and irritation of the vagina. Yeast infection treatment is very telling and may help destroy your symptoms and the infection within a few hours.
Common yeast infection treatment
DIFLUCAN (Fluconazole tablets) is one of the most effective treatments for recurring yeast infections. Available in different strengths, the most effective dose appears to be about 150 mg once. Diflucan works by slowing or stopping the operation of yeast metabolism. However, treatment is effective only if it is indeed a yeast infection caused by Candida overgrowth, and it will not help other types of Candida-related infections.
Women can use Vagi-Gard Maximum Strength Formula Medicated Cream to get immediate relief from itching and burning outside the vaginal area. Cream provides protection against bacteria, as well as rapid-relief donors.
Male yeast infection normally occurs after contact with women who have a yeast infection, and may even occur in the oral cavity. Anti-fungal creams and ointments work best male yeast infections.
Natural yeast infection treatment
Although the-counter and prescribed medications-are readily available, those seeking a more permanent solution to the problem of yeast infection are now turning to natural teatments.
Natural yeast infection form of treatment involves the use of devices called Nasturtium. Other natural products such as garlic and yogurt may require some preparation before use. You’ll need a bag of garlic cloves with gauze and tie dental floss or trailer to find inventive and creative ways to use yogurt, but if you are looking for quick relief from the discomfort, the training is not at all a problem.
5 Powerful Tips for Getting the Help You Need Online
Saturday, September 26th, 2009 | Places | No Comments
Copyright 2006 Tony Mase
In his book “How to Get What You Want“, Wallace D. Wattles, best known for his classic masterpiece “The Science of Getting Rich”, talks about the importance of “making constructive use of the people and things in your environment” in getting what you want.
One way you make constructive use of the people and things in your environment is to get the help you need, when you need it.
If you spend any amount of time on the Internet, you’ll occasionally need someone’s help…
It might be help with an online purchase, technical support for a product, or some other kind of help.
Regardless of the kind of help you need…
The manner in which you ask for that help will determine the quality and the quantity of the help you receive now and in the future.
You see…
There are two ways you can ask for help online…
One is “constructive”…
The other is “destructive”.
When you ask for help in a constructive manner, you’ll get the help you need, when you need it, and you’ll “build” a relationship that’ll keep the door open for future help.
On the other hand…
When you ask for help in a destructive manner, although you might get the help you need this time, you’ll “destroy” any chance of a relationship and close the door to future help.
Based on the thousands of questions and support requests I’ve received and answered online, here are five powerful tips that’ll help you get the help you need, when you need it, and get it in a way that’ll leave the door wide open for future help:
Tip #1 - Don’t lead with your chin.
Leading with your chin is a great way to get knocked on your…
Well…
You fill in the blank. ![]()
The single most important thing you need to remember when you’re asking for help online, whether you’re asking by email or by filling out an online form, regardless of how angry or frustrated you might be, is that there’s a real “live” person on the other end…
A person who has “feelings” just like you do!
Including phrases in your first request for help like…
“Are you going to help me right now, right this minute, or are you going to give me my money back?”…
Or…
“I’m starting to think this is a scam!”…
Or…
“If I don’t hear back from you in one hour, I’m going to call my lawyer!”…
Might make you feel good, but they’ll virtually guarantee whatever help you do get right now will be minimal, at best, and your chances of getting anything other than minimal help from that person again in the future will be somewhere between slim and none.
Tip #2 - Be polite.
For some strange reason, one I’ve yet to figure out, many people seem to think the rules of simple, common courtesy don’t apply online…
Don’t you be one of them!
A request for help written in a polite tone, using “please” and “thank you”, will, more often than not, get you a prompt and courteous reply.
Tip #3 - DON’T SHOUT!!!
Whether you know it or not, typing your request for help in all capital letters is the online equivalent of shouting in the face of the person who receives it…
And…
The liberal use of multiple exclamation marks makes your shouting even louder and more emphatic!
Question for you…
Do you like it when someone shouts in your face?
Guess what?
Neither does anyone else! ![]()
Tip #4 - Keep your request short and to the point.
Most people doing business online don’t have the time to read long, drawn out messages trying to figure out what you need, nor do they have the time to keep writing you back over and over again trying to clarify what you need.
When you ask for help online, *always* include your name, contact information, order information, specific dates, specific details, and a clear, concise description of the help or information you need.
Avoid including any information that doesn’t directly contribute to helping the person you’re asking for help to give you the exact help you need.
Tip #5 - Say thank you.
After you’ve received the help you’ve asked for, a simple “thank you!” or “thanks, I appreciate your help!” will go a long way towards insuring the door will be wide open the next time you need that person’s help again.
Once again…
The single most important thing you need to remember when you’re asking for help online is that there’s a real “live” person on the other end.
Treat that person as you’d like to be treated and you’ll find as I have that, more often than not, you’ll get all the help you need, when you need it, and that person’s door will always be open to you should you need their help again.
Software Assurance: The Easy Way to Comply with an Audit by the Federation Against Software Theft
Saturday, September 26th, 2009 | Places | No Comments
Introduction
The world has changed over the last twenty five years out of all recognition. With the extension of the World-Wide-Web there has been a massive revolution in communications and the way in which populations manage their lives. However with the introduction of computers and databases, banking on line and free exchange of information throughout the world, there is also the criminal aspect to go with it. The virus and hacking into sensitive sites is a goldmine of opportunity for people intent on fraud and illegal activities. So naturally there is a neced for the public to be protected and have total security so that they can use the facilities without harm. Such Website security and email protection systems have now become big business. As companies become more acutely aware of the dangers and risks of illegal activities they are investing in security solution technology to do something about it.
Software Security
One such company has combined the provision of secure networks, data and applications with the processes and technology involved in making sure that data is managed effectively. The service includes ensuring that bottlenecks are minimised on the network and speed is maximised; minimising data destruction and loss of productivity from spam and browsing that contravenes corporate policy and helping organisations use the technology to uphold corporate policies and comply with regulatory needs.
During these financially challenging times you would expect companies to be economising on computer hardware and software, but instead many organisations have gone ahead investing in IT as a way of restructuring their businesses to create opportunities, thereby gaining competitive advantage. I have a theory that downturn in business is generating more illegal activity so there is more need for security technology and some companies are benefiting as a result. Every cloud has a silver lining.
The Modern World of Software Licensing
As the recession continues to bite many companies do have had to cut costs resulting in less to spend on IT and unfortunately there have been a number of bankruptcies, but that does not tell the whole story. More recently as the IT business grows ever more huge, the management of all the software and monitoring of all the licensing of software is becoming a minefield. For a large organisation where everything is run on computers with its associated software, the cost in licences is huge. There has been a fair bit of news recently about how much it has cost for UK and European businesses to bring their software licensing up to date as a result of a software audit. It seems that the federation against software theft (FAST) claim they can audit any company as they see fit. The cost of just having to reconcile license fees could tip the balance and financially cripple a business. What with the security costs of protecting your computer systems and the licensing fees and keeping up to date with new ideas, large organisations can find their IT costs spiralling out of control.
And you thought licensing your software in a physical environment was complicated, well the game has changed! Over the last three years, there has been an increasingly widespread adoption of x86 server virtualisation which has significantly changed the information technology landscape. No longer is a server workload tied to the underlying hardware as more than one workload can run on a single box. This has quite astonishing benefits in terms of high availability and disaster recovery, not to mention significant cost savings from the reduction in hardware requirements. The automatic inventory of hardware and software delivers a realistic snapshot of the IT infrastructure and provides, among other things, a reliable data pool for license management, allowing any company to dramatically optimise its license situation.
With malware increasing in both volume and sophistication and no likely slow down in sight, we believe it is now more important than ever for companies to have a comprehensive web security solution in place. Over the years it has been shown that service delivery models and benefits vary greatly and that tight integration of services at the provider level is critical. In the case of e-mail this means security, archiving, continuity and policy management.
A new industry is growing fast called software asset management out of the need to monitor and maintain the diverse IT assets of large organisations.
Some Interesting Facts Have Emerged:
Although most IT directors would claim to know exactly how many PCs they have on their network, the reality is that more than two-thirds of organisations have a discrepancy of up to 30% between expected and actual inventories. This discrepancy poses obvious problems. How can businesses accurately budget and plan if they don’t know what they already have, and indeed out of what they do own, what is actually in use? In theory the idea of effective Software Asset Management is that organisations can manage IT assets in order to support business goals, enabling cost controls, strengthen security and improve corporate governance, all while minimising risk. Keeping track of the hardware in a large organisation is very time consuming, but then doing the same for all the licensing of software for each piece of hardware can be near impossible.
SAM and Virtualisation
Traditionally, licenses have been allocated to the physical hardware on which the relevant software is running. With the increased demand on budgets IT departments are looking for ways of reducing| shrinking| cutting} costs. Organisations have recognised for some time now that their internal data centres are extremely inefficient and have looked for more efficient approaches to give them better control over their applications and service levels, while having increased choice in the way they support their operations. Reducing cost is one of the key drivers behind virtualisation, a technology which is having a truly transformative effect on the IT landscape. There is both a growing realisation and an acceptance that the economic viability of virtualisation and cloud computing in one form or another, will represent the next big transformation in corporate computing. The expectations are huge; banking analysts say that cloud computing will be a $160 billion market within the next five years, and every major IT company is jumping on the bandwagon.
Whilst there have been concerns expressed around complexity, and “how to get started” these are becoming dispelled, as many organisations specialising in SAM, such as Softcat, have educated clients on the process and priorities and how to make it economical. According to the analyst firm Gartner, SAM helps organisations save up to 30 % of their IT budget, so it is little wonder that it’s rapidly rising up the Chief Information Officer’s (CIO’s) agenda, despite the concerns around complexity.
One example of saving on costs is where the Telegraph Media Group bought in an effective SAM strategy which helped the company gain complete control of their IT assets realising savings of £100,000 from over expenditure on unnecessary licenses. Although initially the senior managers need to be aware of the whole SAM process, there are some aspects, such as discovery and license management, that are quick and simple to implement and can deliver a much more immediate business and financial impact: lower costs, greater security, decreased risk and improved corporate governance. These initial steps will also set organisations on the road to achieving full ISO 19770-1 compliance when the time is right.Space is at an all time premium, electricity bills ever increasing, budgets shrinking, and while virtualisation is helping us fit more servers into a limited space it does not necessarily mean that the storage solutions being used are any better provisioned or utilised to their full capacity.
The vast majority of our customers pay a lot of attention to licence compliance to ensure they only deploy legal software. Alongside the constant and rising threat of audits from vendors and regulatory bodies, some vendors are taking action to recognise these efforts being made by customers - such as: simplifying license programmes, free education and raising the ethical argument to the physical users of using non licensed products. There are free tools and licence statements to help get an precise picture of customer’s Microsoft software assets or, specialist SAM partners are available as part of the programme, to engage with customers and work through the process.Good network security software is essential to the efficient functioning of an organisation.
The Future Trends in Computing.
Under increasing pressure to deliver superior results for less cost, IT managers are considering new options to maintain the functionality of their critical resources such as e-mail management and web security. One of the latest ideas to emerge is that of cloud computing. This term describes any scenario where computing resources are accessed over the Internet and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) makes up one of the largest elements of cloud computing. The SaaS vendors provide a service where the customer does not pay for the software itself, but rather for using it. This takes care of the complexity of licensing and asset management for the IT department allowing the company to concentrate on their contractual work. The process of cloud computing helps customers to reduce the cost and complexity of web and e-mail management and security, so they can focus on their core business by eliminating unnecessary distractions.
Some compare the cloud computing revolution to that of electricity a hundred years ago when companies stopped generating their own power and plugged into the newly built electrical grid. It was more economical to outsource the production of electricity leaving the companies to focus on their core operations. Today a similar revolution is underway. Hooking up to the Internet’s global computing grid, massive information-processing plants are pumping into our businesses and homes. This shift is already reinventing the computer industry. The heavily publicised topics of the increased activity around all things “virtualised” and companies being audited, Software Asset Management (SAM) is becoming a key talking point of the latest products and services available.
Cloud computing models will prevail with Software as a Service (SaaS) along with Platform as a Service. I believe hosting companies will be at the cutting edge of this evolution and will lead to industries becoming more service based. This will range from mobile/GPS/PRS hand held services, consumer services, services targeted at SMBs. We see this as a big market as these guys don’t want to invest in their own technology per-se, they just want a service. Large enterprises are already embracing cloud computing and it is having a significant impact, as a way to manage their costs and deliver services to both their external customers and internal employees. In fact this move to a hosted delivery model, where the technology or application is simply made available when and where you need it, will drive a new market. We won’t be talking about Software as a Service; or Hardware as a Service… soon we’ll have a new definition - Everything as a Service.
Analyst firm, Gartner agrees that some of the biggest benefits of clouds computing “are the built-in elasticity and scalability, which not only reduce barriers to entry, but also enable these companies to grow quickly.” In the case of ScanSafe, modifications can be made from a web interface from anywhere in the world and modifications are made active in seconds. Furthermore, an SLA provides a financially backed guarantee about service availability and effectiveness. Embrace storage resource management solutions, commit to thin provisioning, actively employ duplication and start using intelligent archiving you will not only save money, time, and reduced your company’s environmental footprint, you will have taken your challenges head on, controlled them and overcome them.
The ability to utilise applications such as web security on a pay-as-you-go basis will be a perfect strategy for businesses seeking greater flexibility and control over costs. According to global market intelligence firm, IDC, “The cloud model offers a much cheaper way for businesses to acquire and use IT - in an economic downturn, the appeal of that cost advantage will be greatly magnified. More and more of the focus now is moving to service based models, and managing OP-EX (Operational Expenditure), whereas discussions previously were focussed on CAP-EX (Capital Expenditure). This argument is even truer in today’s economy.
What’s New in Microsoft?
Microsoft has announced the launch of the next wave of Microsoft Office and related products. At a time when an organisation requires its communication tools to be cost-effective and flexible, Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 is able to achieve new levels of reliability and performance by delivering features that simplify your administration, help protect your communications, and with greater business mobility. Exchange 2010 delivers new, integrated e-mail archiving functionality-including granular multi-mailbox search, item-level retention policies and instant legal hold-making it easier to address compliance and discovery issues. Administrators get centralised control of all archives while users get direct access to their archived mail, including a familiar archive experience that does not disrupt the way they run their inboxes every day. Exchange Server 2010 actively helps protect your communications through built-in defences against viruses and junk e-mail and support for an array of third party security products.
With software assurance managing your IT estate can be easier and deliver a stronger ROI. The pressure to optimise your IT infrastructure for ever-changing business conditions requires you to be agile and that means investing in solutions that provide you and your organisation with choices.
Microsoft Exchange, enables rich and productive collaboration among its users and can help achieve better business outcomes while controlling the costs of deployment, administration and compliance. The latest release of Exchange 2010 delivers the widest range of deployment options, integrated information leakage protection, and advanced compliance capabilities, that combine to form the best messaging and collaboration solution available in a simplified way to help keep e-mail continuously available for the user. With new deployment and storage options, enhanced inbox management capabilities and e-mail archiving built-in, Exchange 2010 helps you lower costs and enhance business outcomes.
Allied to cloud computing, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure is another area where a model is emerging that has enough advantages to become main-stream. VDI will cause a fundamental rethink for Microsoft in terms of its operating licensing system. The current licensing model, where device and software license were inexorably tied together, in years to come won’t be the case and Microsoft is already adapting to accommodate the new models. The ability to provide a unified service eliminates the need for multiple interfaces, reporting and policy management - therefore reducing management workload.
Licensing the Virtual Environment
If the link between software and hardware is broken, that model doesn’t work. To their credit, the software vendors, led by Microsoft, have recently started to make changes to their licensing models to match the abilities of the technology - however, whilst these changes are on balance positive, the complexity of licensing in a virtual environment is dramatically increased. Our training deck for the SAM Team on virtual licensing runs to 35 slides - something you don’t ever want to be subjected to unless you suffer from insomnia! Intel technologies are continually addressing the complete business needs of the market and Virtualisation is a constant theme. With the recent launch of their Xeon 5500 design of server chips, it is possible to have intelligent power management that can deliver a 90% reduction in energy costs compared with servers of just five years ago. (and not just making chips go faster!)
Softcat have always maintained that good financial stewardship of software assets has the same result - and this is even more vital in a virtual environment. We can help you make the most of the licensing terms available - did you know that licensing a server for Windows Datacentre Edition allows you to run unlimited virtual Windows Servers? - and of course ensure that you are adhering to the terms of the licensing agreement, which is critical to ensure compliance. Microsoft is certifying customers for a whole 12 months after their SAM engagement and ring fencing them from further investigation. Microsoft wants to encourage and support its customers to integrate SAM in their everyday planning and control - working with them to maximise their software investment.
SAM Vendor Programmes
A number of associate vendor partners have instigated SAM accreditation programmes and are taking a more “in partnership” approach, where their intentions are to help and reward customers for engaging in SAM. Microsoft have pioneered this sort of programme, along with the likes of Adobe, and Symantec have also launched accreditations to assure end user customers they are in safe hands, when engaging with such resellers. The point here is that the vendors want to encourage customers, rather than the previous stance of enforcement. Finally, worth a note with regard to e-mail management, there is the added burden of efficient and effective retrieval and legislative compliance that service providers are able to lighten.
Conclusion
It is amazing how fast technology has evolved over the decades to drive our lives from every angle personal and business. Two extremely hot topics of the last year, have without doubt, been Software Asset Management (SAM) and Virtualisation. The fact is that organisations the world over are analysing their processes and costs to see how they can work smarter. The economic slowdown could be said to have a positive effect as it pushes| forces| nudges companies towards the process of change thereby accelerating the change. With the increased demand on budgets, coupled with the increased activity around all things “virtualised”, these remain two of the most heavily publicised topics and Softcat believes the business case for cloud computing is a compelling one and that certain non-core business functions, that are nonetheless necessary, are best done in the cloud, being more cost effective for the business and, in many cases, provide the most efficient service.
Postmen wearing kilts?
Saturday, September 26th, 2009 | Places | No Comments
The kilt is something which many Scots and people of Scottish decent feel very strongly about.
It is not just a fashion symbol but an important part of our Scottish heritage. Ask almost anyone anywhere in the world what one symbol they think of when the word Scotland or Scottish is mentioned to them and they will respond either Tartan or the kilt.
Although most Scots do not not wear the kilt as part of their day to day clothing it is almost compulsory on special occasions such as weddings and other formal occasions. Here in Aberdeen where I live hundreds of students have been graduating from the two local universities and almost every male graduate has chosen to wear the kilt for the formal photos. Some of them may have not have been Scots by birth and their only real connection with Scotland has been through attending university in Aberdeen Scotland but they still wore the kilt.
The USA and Canada were amongst the first countries in the world to create a special tartan day to commemorate how important Scots have been in developing their country. Curiously the Scottish Parliament have yet to declare any special tartan day although there has been discussions about it for some years. However this may change in the near future as Scots recently elected a new government from the Scottish Nationalist Party which is perhaps more focused on preserving the Scottish Culture than our other parties. However this is not going to be an advert for this political party.
Despite the non recognition of Tartan Day by national government many of our towns and cities have agreed a day when they would celebrate the event. Each town or city will hold their own parades with kilted bagpipers marching down the main streets. A wonderful sight to behold (although not every one tends to appreciate the music of the traditional bagpipes).
Anyway back to the title about Postmen wearing kilts.
I have just heard today about a postman (are we allowed to use that term or should it be Postal Service Delivery Person?) who has been just launched a campaign to be allowed to wear a kilt when delivering mail as part of his official uniform. No, the postal service worker is not in Scotland but based in Lacey, Washington USA. Dean Peterson has sent around 1,000 letters to Postal Service union branches in every US State with photos of himself wearing a prototype official uniform kilt.
I have not seen the photos myself or know of any Scottish connection he may have as a reason for wearing the kilt but it seems to me to be a good opportunity for Scots across the USA to make a stand and support Dean in his campaign. Lets face it if Scots made the USA so special that President Woodrow Wilson stated
“Every line of strength in American history is a line colored with Scottish blood”.
who can stop Scots wearing their national costume at work.
Write to your local postal service managers and the union branches and tell them you would be proud to see people of Scots descent able to wear the kilt. Then come to our main website on ScottishJerk.com and make a comment to let us know what you have done.
Lets get the kilt being worn by Scots everywhere.
Vinyl Siding: When the Appearance is not Aimed to Deceive
Saturday, September 26th, 2009 | Places | No Comments
Vinyl siding is a flexible material that is used for exterior wall covering of your home. It is a product engineered using primarily polyvinyl chloride, which makes it an ideal material with which to cover the outside of your house as it is extremely heat, cold and moisture resistant. Vinyl siding is also highly unlikely to be damaged by denting or high winds.
It is a wise investment to use vinyl siding for your house renovation project. Savings-wise, you will get a huge return of investment when vinyl sidings are used in re-tooling a dilapidated residence. Vinyl siding is maintenance free! Couldn’t we all use a few extra ours during our day?
If you have found that adding vinyl siding to your home is cost prohibitive, you might consider repainting, which is much more inexpensive. It is worth paying extra money for it? These are some things to think about.
Think about your expenses on painting them over 15-20 years, if you have to do it every four years. That’s a reasonable lifespan for a quality certified vinyl siding job.
You may be surprised how much time you will save when you don’t need to maintain wooden boards by scraping, painting, or replacing ones that are starting to rot. It is easy to make your vinyl siding like new using a hose and some mild detergent.
Durable construction means vinyl siding resists dents and damage from hail and harsh weather.
Regardless of the look you are seeking, there are a plethora of design options in color, texture, and style that you can select from.
What Things Can be Visually Identified?
If you can find certification by the Vinyl Siding Institute, then you know you are getting a quality product. The industry boasts a special standard called VSI certification which ensures the siding meets or exceeds preset conditions.
What Are Your Options?
Gauge
The thicker the panel, the better, for impact and weather resistance. Thicker panels look better because they will hang straighter, and lay against the wall flatter. Expect to find gauge sizes related to an economical point of view.the premium is 040″
Grain
With Grains, you can get a more contemporary and orthodox look. More pronounced grains can give a home a more rustic appearance. You could also consider log siding or stone siding for your exterior siding as an option.
Profiles
Do you like a traditional clapboard style? A dutchlap panel? Have you ever heard of a vinyl siding called dutchlap panel? The old-fashioned look of a beaded panel? Explore the different influences that different profiles can give your home.
Color Choices
These days you can choose home siding from a variety of vinyl siding colors which go right through the PVC and not just on the surface. This means that if your siding gets scratched or knocked, it won’t easily show. You can pick from an assortment of colors, which will be held better by the vinyl siding and last longer than paint.
